Michael Stitz is an experienced Toronto-based employment lawyer who has specialized in practicing employment law and labor law for over a decade. He provides legal advice and representation to individuals, public and private businesses, and contractors in all aspects of employment law, labor law, human resources, and human rights law. Mr. Stitz has a wealth of experience in handling complex workplace litigation and negotiations, representing clients from various sectors, including manufacturing, retail, financial services, chemical and pharmaceutical, public service, mass media and telecommunications, software development, and information technology.

Mr. Stitz has a significant practice involving wrongful dismissal and human rights litigation, negotiating severance packages, navigating workplace regulatory matters, as well as drafting and interpreting employment contracts and human resources policies and procedures. He also specializes in handling matters involving alleged unlawful competition by former employees and businesses, including the start-up of competing businesses by former employees, allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, breach of confidence, unlawful interference, and matters concerning restrictive covenants such as non-competition and non-solicitation clauses.

Mr. Stitz is a regular contributor to The Employment Bulletin, a publication that discusses critical and emerging workplace issues. He has been quoted by the Law Times and HRM Online and has written for the Ontario Bar Association and Canadian Lawyer. He has also served as counsel before courts and specialized tribunals, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Ministry of Labour, Ontario Labour Relations Board, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, and Public Service Grievance Board of Ontario, among others. Mr. Stitz is the past recipient of the CCH Prize for Legal Writing and the Blakes Scholar Award for academic excellence.
