Katrina Marciniak is an experienced litigator who previously worked as an associate lawyer at Ross, Scullion, Barristers and Solicitors before establishing her own law firm. Her focus was on commercial litigation, aboriginal, contract, employment and construction law, and she represented clients before various courts and tribunals, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, the Mutual Fund Dealers Association, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.
During her time at Ross, Scullion, Katrina acted as co-counsel for a First Nation in a precedent-setting lawsuit against the federal and provincial governments, with damages claimed in the hundreds of millions of dollars. She led several witnesses and experts through examinations, conducted cross-examinations of key defense experts, and argued critical issues before the trial judge during the 103-day trial. She also managed a 4,000 document trial database, facilitating a paper-free “E-Trial.”
Katrina has extensive trial experience and has assisted E. Anthony Ross, QC on litigation cases in the Caribbean, which sparked her interest in expanding her practice internationally. In 2014, she obtained her Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in Kingston, Jamaica, and during her in-service with Hart Muirhead Fatta, she worked with the commercial litigation department of the firm while attending a range of court hearings at Jamaica’s Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
